Ancient, Medieval, and Renaissance Painting in Italy August 13th through 27th 2010. Study a variety of painting methods with Margaret Krug, artist and author of An Artist’s Handbook: Materials and Techniques. Course includes encaustic, egg tempera, casein, and oil painting in the studio at the Spannocchia Foundation near Siena in Italy. Day trips, with art history lectures and sketchbook exercises to museums and other sites in Siena, Florence, Monte Oliveto Maggiore, and Volterra, enable students to examine the cultural and historical context of methods and concepts presented during the course.
